According to Amnesty International, Russian bombardment of the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people due to the use of internationally prohibited cluster bombs and fundamentally inaccurate rockets.
"Anyone may die at any moment," says a new study. Kharkiv residents have been subjected to indiscriminate assaults by Russian soldiers since the Russian invasion started in late February, resulting in catastrophic death and devastation.
According to Amnesty International, Russian troops have regularly used cluster bombs, which are prohibited by international treaties for their devastating consequences, as well as mines that may be scattered.
Even while waiting in line for humanitarian relief or shopping for food and medication, people have been murdered in their own houses, on the streets, in parks and cemeteries.
The continued use of cluster bombs, which are outlawed almost everywhere, is appalling and more evidence of the blatant disdain for human life. Russia must be held accountable for these heinous crimes, and the families of those killed or injured must get full compensation.
