The acclaimed Charles Dickens' tale is a comic examination of the characters who belong to the Pickwick Club, named for its founder and sole president Samuel Pickwick. The purpose of the club is to explore the journey of life, and to do so, Pickwick and the other Club members travel out of London to various sections of England, encountering interesting people, quaint as well as bizarre, along the way.
The version of the 3-reel film presented here, includes only the first and third reel--as only these have survived. Popular American comedian John Bunny plays the title role, and the project was filmed mainly on location in England, as per Bunny's preference, to ensure authenticity.
