David Finkel, 55, is a staff writer for the Washington Post and also the leader of the Post's national reporting team. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 2006 for a series of stories on US funded democracy efforts in Yemen.
Finkel's book 'The Good Soldiers' describes several months he spent in 2007 as an embedded reporter with the American Army. The book was listed a best book of 2009 by the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Slate.com, and The Boston Globe, and won the Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism as well as the J Anthony Lukas Book Prize.
Finkel currently lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his wife and two daughters.
