The Jupiter mother accused of keeping her adoptive son locked in 8x8 box in the garage pleaded guilty on Monday morning.

According to court documents Tracy Ferriter, 48, was found guilty on three charges of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment and neglect of a child. In addition to the charges, she was sentenced to 10 years probation with one year of house arrest.

Ferriter's sentencing comes after her husband Timothy Ferriter was sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation in November.

In February 2022, the Ferriters were booked on counts of false imprisonment and aggravated child abuse when police discovered they kept their 14-year-old son in an eight-by-eight box in their garage.

"Tracy is not a monster," said Marc Shiner, Tracy's attorney. "Tracy was trying to protect her family, her children, and she was trying to protect herself all of this would’ve come out but Tracy, being altruistic, didn’t want to put her children through any more publicity and wanted everyone to move on.”
