WWF WrestleMania XII took place in Anaheim, California on March 31st 1996. The show was headlined by a 60 minute match pitting WWF Champion Bret Hart against Shawn Michaels, the first and (to date) last time an Iron Man match main evented the WWE's biggest show of the year. The ending of the match was filled with drama when neither man scored a pinfall after the time had expired, however the match began again with Gorilla Monsoon informing the competitors that there must be a winner.
Also at the event "Rowdy" Roddy Piper took on Goldust in a Hollywood Backlot Brawl, Big Daddy Cool Diesel battled The Undertaker, and Stone Cold Steve Austin made his WrestleMania debut in a match against Savio Vega. WrestleMania 12 also featured the return of the Ultimate Warrior when he squashed Hunter Hearst Helmsley in seconds.
