"I knew I wasn't being treated the way I should be treated in that situation ... This is a first for me, being arrested for so-called misgendering someone. It's absolutely worrying - just because somebody feels like a woman, or they believe they're a woman, if we simply say 'no, I don't agree with you, I believe that you are a man,' you can now be arrested and prosecuted for that."
A Christian has become the first street preacher in the UK to be prosecuted for 'misgendering' a member of the crowd he was speaking to, and reported to counter-terrorism.
Dave McConnell, a lettings agent from Wakefield, was reported to Prevent after being arrested and convicted for offending a member of the public. Video footage shows a police officer with pentagram tattoos tell Dave he was had committed a "homophobic hate crime," before arresting him and leading him off to a police car in front of a jeering crowd.
Dave will be appealing his conviction from 9 to 10 March in Leeds.
UPDATE: Dave won his appeal, overturning his conviction. Find out more: [ Ссылка ]
