Uttarakannada district is junction between Northen Western Ghats and southern Western Ghats. & I am from this district . In this region the people have their own style of livelihood which completely depends on these particular valley & they get everything from cultivation and surrounding forest.
Recently Uttarakannada led to have a severe flood due to heavy rain.
There are many types of flooding . In that the particular type of flood is causing by Urbanization. Once you have a productive land people tend to come and occupy & extend their agriculture. & the water will not go to the down stream. Uttarakannada it is an area which has very rich biodiversity & it is also very well populated.
In the recent decades its been highly urbanized.
It is essential to forge partnership with people living in and around forests to help to conserve these Eco system & the essential services they provide.
