The NEW 2023 BMW X5! Upgraded Luxury SUV!
Being one of the most sought-after midsize luxury SUVs currently on sale, BMW is back with the 2023 iteration of the coveted X5. The 2023 BMW X5 luxury midsize SUV has a pleasing combination of performance, luxury, and versatility. But what are the newest features which make this car stand out? Well, to find out, keep on watching this video.
After being introduced in 2000, the BMW X5 has become an icon. In 2021, the X5 was BMW’s second best selling car in North America, selling over 60,000 units!
BMW's first SUV has since spurred other major automakers to create their own equivalents, paving the path for the popularity of luxury SUVs today.
The current fourth-generation X5 went on sale for the model year 2019, engineered with a mix of performance, comfort, tech, and practicality. Its variants range from an efficiency-focused plug-in hybrid to a supercar-quick M model.
Sporty, high-tech, versatile, and comfortable, there's no question the current X5 is the best one yet. But the X5 now faces stiff competition in the segment it arguably created.
Every X5 drives with the power and poise BMW vehicles are known for. After all, they are the Ultimate Driving Machines…! Even its base inline six-cylinder engine feels plenty swift, and the V-8 engines above it even more so. In particular, the X5M has quicker acceleration and better handling than a vehicle so large should, but its firm suspension is uncomfortable compared to the X5 models below it.
As technology increasingly becomes synonymous with luxury, the X5 impresses. Big screens and great audio quality are noticeable every day. At this point, however, BMW really should charge less for adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist when many other automakers include them as standard.
Refined, capable, and broadly appealing, the X5 is a solid and time-tested choice. But the innovation mantle the X5 once carried has now been picked up by rival luxury SUVs. Drivers who owned an X5 before will find this one a solid improvement, but they and first-time shoppers should also consider other options in the segment.
The all new 2023 X5 is offered with one of three distinct powertrains, each associated with a different model. A 335-hp turbocharged inline-six powers X5s wearing the sDrive40i or xDrive40i badge. The plug-in hybrid xDrive45e which comes with a turbocharged inline-six and an electric motor that combine for 389 horsepower.
The X5 M is not just fast for an SUV, but is fast period. With a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds, it’s faster than a Lamborghini of the mid 2000s, which is incredible when you remember it's a 2.5-ton luxury vehicle. Also, it settles down in the city or on the highway. The braking performance is quite similar, with sports car-like numbers in testing and smooth operation around town.
It handles pretty well too, with a mostly stable suspension and decent steering, though some drivers may find both too stiff and heavy. While that weight provides good feedback on the road, it can make parking in tight spaces a bit of a chore. But car expert’s biggest complaint is the overabundance of drive modes. It is said that there are six settings for the transmission, along with multiple modes for the brakes, engine and suspension.
Moreover, all three powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and none of them will leave drivers wanting power in virtually any driving situation. The new BMW's X5's refined ride and stable handling are a big improvement compared with the previous-generation model. Its steering feels more connected and also direct but still not exactly what car experts consider sporting.
So far, the Audi Q7 still has the BMW X5 beat in this area, but it's a close match. Pitch the BMW X5 into a fast corner, and it holds on reliably and rewards the driver with predictability that's missing from the GLE class. And if a user needs to tow, know that the BMW X5's maximum towing capacity is about 7200 pounds, no matter which engine it has.
Moreover, the 40i trim comes with the same 3.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged inline-6 motor under the hood which did the duty in the older model years and produces 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. This engine is upgraded to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission with manual and multiple driving modes. Both AWD as well as RWD drivetrains are available too.
The performance numbers on the X5 are punched out by this inline-6 motor turned out to be superior to the Volvo XC90, and this helped the BMW X5 to be better in terms of 0-60 MPH time as well as quarter-mile time.
