We asked members of the Northern Irish public to send in a 30 second video to tell us the value and impact local trails and greenspace are making to their lives during COVID-19 lockdown period. We are them to consider:
• What is one of the challenges of lockdown that getting outdoors is helping you through (e.g. anxiety, loneliness, inactivity etc)?
• What are you discovering about your local outdoors that you never noticed before (e.g. walking/running routes, nature etc )?
• What is your biggest challenge to getting out once a day for exercise (e.g. having to walk on roads, lack of social distancing, green space / trails too far away etc)?
• What one change after lockdown restrictions are lifted would enable you to engage more with your local trails and greenspace?
These videos are an output of a detailed online approach to interview residents of Northern Ireland from the 4th – 11th May 2020.
The survey measured how the population was engaging with the outdoors during the COVID 19 lockdown period, the benefits obtained, issues encountered and expectations for the future.
