Today on our 2013 Ford F-150 Crew Cab six and half foot bed, we're going to review and install the BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau cover, part number BAK26307. Here's what our BAKFlip G2 Tonneau cover is going to look like once it's installed. As you can see it's got a really nice low profile design, so it blends in nicely with the vehicle's pickup bed. The G2 has some really nice wide seals that go all the way around both sides and ends for a complete coverage, keeping it sealed, and dirt, and dust, debris, and even moisture out of the pickup bed. Now the G2 itself, the cover, is made of aluminum, so it's nice and lightweight. While still being sturdy enough to hold its composure. The side rails themselves are made from an aircraft aluminum.
They're black powder coated finish, so we don't have to worry about rust and corrosion. Now our folding panels are locked into the side rail, and can be released with the cable. Once it's released, we can fold the panel up towards the cab. We have a total of four panels, and three of them are locking. From the end of the tailgate it's the first, third, and fourth. Then our Tonneau cover will fold up and rest against the pickup bed cab.
Now when it's in this position we also need to help hold it there, so when we're driving down the road it doesn't fold back down. Once we have our Tonneau cover folded up we'll take the installed prop rod, slide the lock into the place over the prop rod, and tighten down the hand nob. This will hold the Tonneau cover in place while we travel down the road. Now what our customers are saying about the G2 Tonneau cover is how well they like the flush mounted with the side rails, the easy install, and how well it seals up around our pickup bed. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. Now to begin our install, we've gone ahead and pulled the majority of our pieces out of the box and laid them out here. We've got our rail for each side, drain hose for each rail, hold down for our cover, clamps for the rails, cushions, and our bulkhead seal. We're going to start by installing the bulkhead seal. The bulkhead seal will go here along the front of our pickup bed right next to the cab.
Now before we attempt to install the seal along the bulkhead we're going to want to clean it. We'll use some clean cloth and a little alcohol and wipe it down. Then we'll wait for that to dry. Now to install the seal we'll remove the two way adhesive off the back, and apply it to the bulkhead. Now once we get here to the other side we'll just use a pair of scissors to cut off the excess. All right, we're now ready to go ahead and install the side rail.
Side rail is going to sit up on top of the bed rail and go all the way forward to the bulkhead. Now while holding it in place we can take the clamps provided and secure our side rail to the pickup bed rail. To make this portion of the install easier we're going to add a couple of squeeze clamps. The squeeze clamps will hold the side rail to the pickup bed rail, and in place while we put the permanent clamps in position. Now when attaching the permanent clamps we're going to start at our forward, or front clamp, slide it into place where the teeth of the clamp will grab the teeth of the rail and the steel lip of the bedside. While I hold it in place and in position I'm going to tighten it down. Now we'll go ahead and repeat the same process for the rear clamp. Moving as far back as possible while still getting a good grip on both the pickup bed lip and our side rail. Now for our middle clamp we're just going to space that out so it's evenly positioned between the forward and rear clamp. Then once we have all three of our permanent clamps in place and tightened down we can go ahead and remove the squeeze clamps. Keep in mind any process we do here on the passenger side is going to get repeated identically on the driver's side. Next we're going to install the drain hose. The drain hose comes off of the side rail and eventually gets drained down and underneath the vehicle. That way any water that collects into the side rail will get drained and won't be in the pickup bed. To install it we simply take the hose, fit it over the drain end, and then take the other end of our hose, and you can run it out through a steak pocket, hole in the bed, or for this application there's a hole here in the plastic grommet of the bulkhead. Next let's go ahead and review our attachment hardware for the cover to the side rail. Our bolt is going to go down through the cover, then through the adjustable slot.
