Ignitors in pellet heaters last 2 to 3 years but eventually need to be replaced. If your pellet heater ignitor isn't working you can still light a fire and get your heater going. This is a quick and easy way to keep warm while waiting for your heater to be serviced or while you wait to get the part and repair the heater yourself.
First, take a handful of pellets and put them in the burn pot. If you have fire starter gel add a little and mix the pellets around. This will help the pellets burn and not required but definitely helps. Next, take a blow torch and set the pellets on fire. You need to get a small fire established and burning. Once the pellets are burning close the door on the heater and switch it on. The exhaust fan will kick in and help the fire burn. Within a few minutes the auger will start feeding pellets and the fire will grow and off you go.
