The Astro Orbiter is one of several Disney rides that spin you around a central point but offer some vertical travel as well. But in my opinion, it's by far the most forceful. If you go all the way down while it's spinning at full speed, you really get shoved into the side of the rockets.
And speaking of those rockets, there's really no elegant way to get in/out of those things. You just have to accept that you're going to look silly.
It's a nice and enjoyable ride though. And while having the Disneyland version be located on the ground instead of Magic Kingdom's elevated version doesn't give you the same sense of scale, I much prefer not having to deal with those janky elevators that neuter capacity.
Astro Orbiter is located at the Disneyland Park, part of the Disneyland Resort located in Anaheim, California.
I had the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort over Labor Day Weekend 2022, and on Saturday September 3, 2022 (during an extreme heat wave, no less), I ended up riding all the operating rides at the resort.
