The Handwriting Without Tears activity "Wood Stick Pokey" is a really great way for kids to learn about the different lines and shapes used in handwriting. This song activity uses a set of wooden sticks that are shaped like a big line, a little line, a big curve and a little curve. Kids can move along as they listen to the directions and imitate Mrs. Hays.
The "Wood Stick Pokey" is designed to help kids develop their fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness. It also helps them learn about the different types of lines and strokes used in handwriting, which can prepare them for writing letters and numbers.
