A Safetran hybrid bell. These bells are known as hybrid bells because it has both the features of electronic bells and mechanical bells. Like electronic bells, Safetran hybrid bells require no lubrication or maintenance. Also, there is a solenoid which powers a clapper that hits the gong like a regular mechanical bell. A bell equivalent to the Safetran hybrid is the Westinghouse hybrid bell, which is only made in Australia. Safetran hybrid bells are uncommon to find, but they still can be found protecting plenty of crossings today. This bell, along with the Safetran Type 1 electronic bell and mechanical bell, was discontinued in 2005. Also, unlike the Safetran mechanical bell, I haven't heard of a Safetran hybrid being installed in the past few years.
