Tropical storm earl is forecasted to become the first major hurricane in the atlantic basin in several months. However, due to the upper level weather patterns, Earl will be guided further out to sea as opposed to closer to shore. This will not impact anyone in the US fortunately.
A major hurricane is anything stronger than a category 3 storm, which also includes category 4 and category 5 hurricanes. A rapid intensification is expected of this storm as the waters it is moving into are very warm.
