The 2021 San Francisco Giants were a MLB team that surprised everyone by winning 107 games, being favored to win the World Series, and leading their division over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team utilized each player to their strengths, creating one of the biggest underdog stories in MLB history. How???

Starting Pitching-
The Giants' starting rotation was anchored by Kevin Gausman, who had a career-best season Anthony Desclafani and Logan Webb also saw significant improvements in their performance due to changes made in their pitch arsenals.

Platoons-
The Giants also used analytics to create a strong offense by using a platoon system with Darren Ruf and Lamonte Wade in right field and at first base, then with Donovan Solano and Tommy Lastella at second base, finally with Mike Yastrzemski and Austin Slater in center field.


Resurgence of Former Stars-
The Giants also were able to use analytics to revive the careers of old former stars Evan Longoria, Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey.
