After meniscus surgery, the focus of rehabilitation tends to be on getting stronger quad muscles. This is good to do right after surgery since the quad muscles may not activate well. But quad muscles usually recover quickly.
What doesn’t recover so quickly (and likely wasn’t working before surgery) is the glute muscles on the back of the hips.
In fact, these muscles are often forgotten as they’re not thought of as directly connected to the knee joint by most healthcare professionals. But glute muscles are arguably THE MOST IMPORTANT muscle to strengthen to keep your meniscus healthy for the long-term.
Keeping great glute strength helps to prevent another meniscus injury after surgery.
In this video, Dr. David shares with you 3 commonly forgotten exercises after meniscus surgery.
