Under the guidance of artist Hannah Burr, students from eight after-school community organizations in the Boston area responded to works from the MFA's encyclopedic collection. Their drawings, audio recordings, and transcriptions culminated in the exhibition "Fresh Eyes," the 2011-12 Artist Project for the Community Arts Initiative. Look behind the scenes as the kids talk about which artwork they selected and why, formulating theories, questions, declarations, descriptions, and questions, which Burr interprets in a layered, dynamic system of color-coded, visually delightful patterns. "Fresh Eyes" invites us all to look with fresh eyes at what we may not have otherwise noticed. The exhibition "Community Arts Initiative: Fresh Eyes" is on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from April 21 to September 16, 2012.
The Community Arts Initiative is generously supported by the Linde Family Foundation.
