"You Showed Me", recorded by American rock band The Turtles in 1968 as an album track, reached the #6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as a single. The song was originally written in 1964 by two members from another American rock band The Byrds who only recorded a demo and was abandoned by the group. The Byrds later recorded it for subsequent album releases. Although the song had originally been an uptempo number, The Turtles' recording of the song uses a slower arrangement. The Turtles were originally a west coast surf-rock group called the Crossfires but later re-branded themselves as a folk rock group. They had several Top 40 hits during their career including a #1 hit "Happy Together".
