How to Make Carioca
✅ Ingredients
1 ½ cups glutinous rice flour
1 cup water
canola oil
1/2 cup light brown sugar
✅ Instructions
In a bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and 1 cup of water. Stir until a firm but smooth and pliable dough is formed.
Scoop about 1 tablespoonful of dough, roll in the palm of your hands, and shape it into balls.
Using the sharp end of one bamboo skewer, poke through each dough ball.
In a wide pan over medium heat, heat about 1-inch deep of oil. Gently add balls into the oil and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Remove from pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add light brown sugar. Cook until liquified.
Add balls to the pan. Stir until all the balls are fully coated with sugar as desired.
Skewer in bamboo sticks to serve, if desired.
