The first Amnesia took the world by storm and was one of the main games that resulted in a few prominent Youtubers to rise in popularity. And so it came to no surprise that the anticipations for the sequel were sky high. That is why it's so unfortunate that it was not made by the same creators but instead by The Chinese Room. Though the story is very good and memorable and beautifully written, the gameplay is barely there and it never really gets scary. It would have been better to release this game as a walking simulator and not use the Amnesia brand attached to it.
