In the plenary session, you can hear about where metamaterials have come from in the last six years in the UK courtesy of Professor Sir John Pendry FRS, Chair in Theoretical Solid State Physics at Imperial College London, particularly the growth in the strength of the UK’s research base. We then share the experience of a spin out in the UK with Irina Khromova, Chief Technology Officer at Metaboards, talking off the challenges of developing a technology into commercial success. Finally we hear from Casey Tegreene of Invention Science Fund about the challenge of funding innovative new technologies.
