Ontario reported 390 new cases of COVID-19, the disease cause by the novel coronavirus, on Wednesday and 43 new deaths attributable to the virus. The death toll has risen to 1,962, while the number of cases across the province is now at 23,774.
Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams and associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe announced the latest COVID-19 numbers on Wednesday, while also discussing the province’s response to the pandemic.
There are 18,190 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Ontario, which is 76 per cent of cases.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care, there have been 1,427 deaths reported among residents and patients in care homes, which is an increase of 19. Four health-care workers in long-term care homes have died.
