What is banh tet? Banh tet is a Vietnamese rice cake, a staple dish served to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Vietnam. It's a popular dish in Vietnamese culture year round, and if you live near an Asian market or deli, you'll probably be able to give banh tet a try, and I recommend you do. Bánh tét is a cake of sticky rice filled with pork and mung bean paste, wrapped tightly and tied in a banana leaf and then boiled in water for at least six hours. It's super tasty, sweet and sticky and kind of addictive. I've eaten several versions of bánh tét since shooting this video, and I see many more in my future. Give it a try and tell me what you think!
