In this video, I go over two of the most commonly used forms of saturation, specifically as they apply to making kicks that sound fat, heavy, but also punchy. These include tape and tube saturation, and while there are similarities between them, they often produce vastly different "colors" when applied to certain sounds/tracks. It's important to know the differences between these saturation types so that you are able to quickly and efficiently find plugins that will complement your mix.

While there are other forms of saturation, tape and tube seemed to be the logical place to start, especially when dealing with kicks. I'll cover other forms of saturation in future videos, but for now, we will be using three plugins as examples (links found below):
