Off the radar of many westerners, the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem has been inhabited by that community since the 4th century. Behind the privacy of the walls, is the Cathedral of St. James, which marks the spot where James the son of Zebedee, disciple of Jesus, was executed by Herod Agrippa I in Acts 12 of the New Testament. The present site is located on the precincts of Herod the Great's former palace in the Old City. In addition, Josephus records that the brother of Jesus, leader of the Jerusalem church, is also commemorated there after being executed by stoning. These men are named James the "Greater" and "Lesser".
In this instalment, we happened to be present during the Easter parade to the church, which added so much colour and excitement!

The Tomb of the Kings may well be the incomplete work of Agrippa to
build a burial site for himself, and is located about 1 km. north of the
Old City.
