Descriptions of SHORTCUTS
SHSAT SHORTCUT #1 : Finding Average of consecutive integers
This Shortcut will show you how to find average of one thousand numbers very quickly. Instead of adding one by one, use this shortcut to find the average very quickly.
SHSAT SHORTCUT #2: Finding Area of a square
Use this SHORTCUT When no sides of a Square is given, but only the length of the diagonal is provided. You can skip the traditional method of l x w or Pythagorean theorem. Instead, just use my Shortcut.
Diagonal Squared divided by 2 = Area
SHSAT SHORTCUT #3: Divisibility Rule for 3
Add all the digits one by one and see if the sum is divisible by 3. For example, 123 is divisible by 3 because 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 and since 6 is divisible by 3, the entire number 123 is divisible by 3.
SHSAT SHORTCUT #4: Multiplying Fractions using "Cross Simplification"
This shortcut shows how to simplify complex fractions in seconds. Learning to simplify is very important because it allows students to solve questions under 60 seconds.
SHSAT SHORTCUT #5: Finding LCM (Least Common Multiple)
This shortcut will help you find LCM very easily. Knowing how to find LCM is important since some questions do come from this topic on the SHSAT.
