Siobhan-Marie O'Connor is in firm gold-medal contention for Britain after storming to victory in her 200m individual medley semi-final.
The 20-year-old from Bath won in style, clocking 2.07.57sec, narrowly outside the Olympic record – to qualify fastest by more than half a second.
The final will be staged on Tuesday night (early hours of Wednesday UK time).
O'Connor said: "I've been trying to go under 2:08 for a long time. It's been a long time coming. My last personal best was at the Commonwealths.
"I thought I had it in me last year, but it didn't quite go to plan.
