DAYTON -- A father and son are thankful to be alive after bullets came flying into their living room, missing one of them by mere inches. The shots were fired around 4 p.m. Friday (November 27) on Lourdes Ct. in Dayton. "If it would have went any further it would have hit me in the back of the head," said the resident, Steven Cooper. Cooper told FOX 45 he usually sits on a couch with his back facing the corner that the bullets came through, but this afternoon, his chance decision to instead to lie down on the floor and take a nap while watching television, may have saved his life. "Twenty minutes after I laid down to go to sleep the bullets went off," said Steven. "All of a sudden we just heard you know a bunch of gun shots, and at first I didn't really think it was gunshots," said Steven's son Shane. Shane said after hearing the shots fired he immediately ran downstairs to the living room where he knew his dad was to make sure he was not hurt. "Next thing we look at the walls and there's bullet holes in the walls," said Shane. Dayton Police were dispatched to collect evidence and bullets from inside the Cooper's home. They were unable to locate a suspect, but told FOX45 they have an idea of who is responsible. "They must think that someone else lives here, or they must have it confused," said Shane, adding he and his father usually keep to themselves even after living in the East Dayton neighborhood for the past eight years. "If it is random, then that means it could happen again," said Shane.
