Hypersensitivity pneumonitis arises when dust particles such as fungus or chemicals are inhaled and as a result allergic reaction occurs, developing Inflammation in the alveoli. Its pathophysiology is discussed comprehensively highlighting the stages of acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

In the lung disease known as sarcoidosis, tiny clumps of inflammatory cells or granulomas are formed due to over reaction of immune system. Carrying on with discussion, thorough elaboration is given on usual, nonspecific, desquamative, and lymphoid interstitial Pneumonia. Then respiratory bronchiolitis comes under consideration which is disease of smokers associated with inflammation of small airway.

Likewise, Inflammation of the lungs is also observed in the bronchioles and alveolar regions and the condition is referred as cryptogenic organizing Pneumonia. Comments are also given on the pathology of Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
