DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police are working to untangled the circumstances surrounding the death of another 9-year-old boy who was shot and killed on the city's east side.
It happened just after 9 p.m. Monday in the 11000 block of Roxbury.
According to Assistant Detroit Police Chief Steve Dount, the boy was shot in the face. Officers loaded the boy into their squad car and took him to St. John Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
It appears to be an accidental shooting. We're told his stepfather left the house for a few minutes, and came home where he found his stepson shot. That's when he called 911.
Police say there were four kids inside the home and it is unclear how the gun went off. A gun has been recovered but police aren't sure whether or not that was the gun used.
