A Spring Streak: No. 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" races south along the ECML - 06/04/24. All footage filmed on Saturday 6th April 2024, released the same day.
For the second time this year No. 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" would return to it's former stomping ground, the East Coast Main Line. The loco would be at the head of the return working of Steam Dreams' 'London to Castle Howard, Durham, Beamish & Newcastle' excursion, which would originate from London Kings Cross hauled by a heritage Class 90 locomotive for a speedy run north to Newcastle. Then the star of the show, No. 60007, would be at the helm for the return working straight back down the East Coast Main Line.
Unfortunately, we were only able to capture the one shot of No. 60007 due to the tight timings needed for a speedy run back to London. Therefore, the tour is seen at Eaton Lane Level Crossing allowing for a panoramic view, after it had been looped at Ranskill. Unfortunately, it had been a beautiful evening right up until five minutes before Gresley came into shot as the sun was hidden by a pesky cloud. To add to my misfortune a northbound 'Azuma' came into shot as the same time as Gresley!
