Lars Strandh's 7th solo exhibition at Radial Art Contemporain, an entirely new series of works created especially by the artist for the gallery space. Some of these works are large quadruples, four canvases joined together, like an assemblage in which the different colours or shades of colour interact with each other. The colours chosen by the artist for this exhibition fall within a specific chromatic range and are suspended in a dialogue between the works themselves and between the works and the gallery space, so that the exhibition can also be experienced as a whole. As a viewer, you will also participate in this ensemble through your position and movements, and for the discerning eye, the experience of colour can change depending on the light and the position you adopt. The simplicity is in fact complex and makes the paintings totally experiential. Through this process of repetition, Lars Strandh's paintings can also be seen as a statement, a search for time, existence and presence. The more time you give to a work, the more you will receive in return. For around 25 years, Lars Strandh has studied a reduced range of colours in his paintings.
The unique atmosphere of his multi-layered works is ‘developed’ from thousands of fine, horizontal brushstrokes that, at first glance, appear to be monochrome, but are not.Lars Strandh has exhibited his work throughout Europe and in the United States. Since 1995, he has organised over 50 exhibitions and more than 160 group shows and contemporary art fairs. The artist has been honoured with a number of commissions, and his works can be found in many public and private collections. He has received several grants and was awarded the Norwegian government's guaranteed income for artists in 2007. Lars Strandh is a Swedish and Norwegian citizen.
