Hey everyone! My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian.
Today I am talking about if Grapes and or Raisins are poisonous to dogs. As a veterinarian I get a lot of calls about dogs eating grapes and raisins. Most pet parents are not sure how serious it is, and what the next step is when their dog eats a grape or a raisin.
Grapes and raisins when eaten by a dog can be serious. Some dogs will get stomach upset or gastroenteritis. The dog may vomit, have diarrhea, and a lot of abdominal pain. If the symptoms are more serious the dog may develop kidney disease.
It is very important to call a veterinarian right away. A veterinarian will get the dog to vomit and they will do other things to decontaminate the dog. If the dog is really sick from the grapes or raisins, the veterinarian will hospitalize the dog and give IV fluids and complete some lab work.
I hope this video is helpful to everyone with a dog.
