When we showed our friends @joyguerrilla the new M808A preamplifier, they were eager to hear how it sounded in action.
So we gave them one and told them to make something.
Every instrument on this track was recorded through the preamp, with no additional gain from the audio interface.
Roland SP-404: recorded stereo with the preamp DI
Fender Rhodes: sent to a stereo splitter, and recorded stereo with the preamp DI
Fender Jazz Bass: recorded mono with the preamp DI
Prophet-10 Synth: recorded mono with the preamp DI
Mason & Hamlin Grand Piano: recorded stereo with the preamp mic inputs, 48v using two AKG-214 condenser mics
Fender Strat Electric Guitar: recorded mono with the preamp mic input, Fender Twin Reverb mic'd with a single Shure SM57, double-tracked
The final track is only minimally mixed and transparently mastered.
