More than 54 million Americans live with chronic joint pain and often are offered painkillers or surgery as the only solutions. Even if they turn to physical therapy, it is in a limited time frame and not supported with follow-up, information, or progress-tracking. Joint Academy combines evidence-based best practices in physical therapy with an easy-to-use app to improve physical function and quality of life for people suffering from joint pain. The app partners patients with a licensed physical therapist and provides a tailored treatment plan, including daily exercises and reminders, interactive lessons, and peer groups if desired to encourage and inspire change. Not only does Joint Academy reduce the need for surgery but clinical studies show that in three to six months, their methods reduce patient pain by half. Since its launch in 2017, Joint Academy has served 80,000 patients and employs more than 350 licensed physical therapists. Founded in Sweden, it is now considered the standard of care for joint pain in that country, and they are poised to expand their services in the US and across Europe. As CEO & Co-founder Jakob Dahlberg explains, they are growing quickly (300% growth last year) and plan to establish themselves more firmly in the US and the European marketplace in the year ahead.
