Toward the end of his life, the Buddha gave a wordless sermon to the sangha by holding up a white lotus flower. Everyone looked confused as the Buddha usually gave a verbal talk. No one in the audience really understood the Flower Sermon except Mahākāśyapa, who simply smiled.
