Richard Franz Joseph Heuberger 1850-1914) was an Austrian composer of operas and operettas, a music critic and teacher.
Heuberger initially studied engineering, but gave it up in 1876, and turned to music. He studied at the Graz Conservatory and later transferred to Vienna, where he eventually became the chorus master of the Wiener Akademischer Gesangverein, conductor of the Wiener Singakademie, director of the Vienna Men's Choral Association.
Although Heuberger wrote many operas, ballets, choral works, and songs, he is best known today for his operetta The Opera Ball (Der Opernball), which he composed in 1898.
From that production comes 'Im Chambre Séparée' played by the Raphaele Concert Orchestra conducted by Peter Walden.
It is track 10, disc 1 of the ASV double CD set titled 'Famous Operetta Melodies' issued in 2002 from original Mozart Edition recordings from 1990 (WLZ 261).
