This is an excellent skating drill for goalies of every level. If you're a beginner goaltender do a couple variations of this drill before every practice or whenever you get "dead" time during practice to dramatically improve your skating as a goalie--plus, improve your efficiency.
It's important to learn from things you do as a goalie in order to improve, so make sure you're critical of things like the way your upper body sits, your hips in the butterfly, the way you look prior to moving, your pushing and pulling in the t push--everything.
