A soldier enlists in their nation's army, eager to change the world for the better. The soldier is sent to fight a war for a nation's freedom but loses their freedom to think and choose along the way. The soldier realizes the fighting and bloodshed is pointless but is forced to continue it under orders. The soldier tries to justify the killing under the fact they were just following orders but in their heart they know they were in the wrong. The soldier is heartlessly discarded after the war, traumatized over what they did to innocent people. Poetic and common, sadly.
