On 12 June 2022, steam loco preservation group, Steam Incorporated, celebrated its 50th year since formation by running two parallel rail excursions on the Kiwirail main line: one diesel-hauled, the other steam-hauled. This video show the two steam locos, Ja 1271 and Ab 608 running in tandem southbound from Palmerston North. Filmed from the cab.
