I was experiencing backfire and popping when timing was set to top dead center so I moved the distributor so that the Bb that is imbedded on the flywheel was before the needle pointer on the bellhousing. So if the needle on the bellhousing is 12 noon on a clock I set the bb on the flywheel to be at like 11:56 on a clock. Hopefully, that make sense and is not confusing. I am a visual learner.
