Do you want to become a Sergeant of Arms at Toastmasters?
A sergeant of arms, a.k.a. SAA is the person who starts a toastmasters meeting. He usually starts the meeting with lots of enthusiasm and high energy to make the audience feel welcome and energized.
Along with that, there is also an interesting thing about the sergeant, who will be greeted with applause every time while going on the stage. The reason behind it is simple, it is done to motivate and cheer up the audience so that they can be more energetic while the whole session. Then the sergeant of arms is supposed to call for another speaker and give a short introduction about them and hand over the stage to them.
There are some roles and responsibilities of SAA outside the stage as well. He/She has to follow and fulfill their responsibilities as if anyone doesn't take their job seriously, there are more chances of giving your position and responsibilities to any other person. The main duties of a sergeant of arms are -
1. Arriving early at the venue and setting it up for the meeting,
2. Putting a podium in place, getting the lights, mic, and other technicalities checked and
3. Make sure the toastmaster's banners or standees are up.
