This is the first and most basic of the Sai kata in the Matayoshi system. This kata is the only kata to use only two Sai however there is still a throwing technique in the final part of the kata.
The important combination which is the fountain of this kata is not only a fundamental hojo-undo but also through bunkai highlights the unique qualities of the sai as a short range but very brutal and punishing weapon encouraging students to adapt their distance and timing.
