Hearing Aids typically come with a 1, 2, or 3 year Warranty to cover repairs of your hearing aids, and a 1, 2, or 3 year Loss & Damage Insurance coverage just in case you lose your hearing aids or damage them beyond repair.
Repair Warranties typically cover almost anything you do to your hearing aids if they can be reasonably fixed. This includes water and moisture damage, as well as routine replacement of hearing aid receiver wires. There are no deductibles for this type of work, but there may be service fees from your hearing care provider. Warranties can typically be extended year by year up to 6 years in most cases. Beyond that, you may have to purchase 3rd party insurance from companies like Ear Service Company (ESCO), which will provide you with an extended Warranty and Loss & Damage Insurance coverage.
Loss & Damage Insurance coverage typically mirrors the term of the Warranty, but not always. This is to cover accidents that result in losing your hearing aids, or damaging them beyond the point that they can be repaired. If you do lose or damage a hearing aid beyond repair, there is a deductible that you must pay in order to receive a new hearing aid from the manufacturer. This is typically a few hundred dollars. You can only use Loss & Damage insurance one time per hearing aid. So if you lose the same hearing aid twice, you will need to purchase a new hearing aid the second time.
The Warranty and Loss & Damage coverage is an agreement between You with your hearing aids, and the Hearing Aid Manufacturer. You have right to use this coverage so your hearing care provider cannot ethically withhold your Warranty and Loss and Damage coverage from you.
