Jared Verse, the first-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in the 2024 NFL Draft, had exactly ZERO stars as a recruit coming out of high school. His lone scholarship offer was from the Albany Great Danes, despite his freakish athleticism as a two-way football player, a basketball player, and a member of a state championship 4x400 meter relay team.
The plan was to bring Verse to Albany, help him put on weight and muscle, and hone his skills as an edge rusher. Verse came into his own in 2020 and quickly became a physical presence who coaches described as "unblockable." It wasn't long before bigger programs took notice, and eventually, Verse transferred to Florida State where he continued his development playing for the Seminoles.
Now in the NFL, Verse has far fewer doubters than he did in high school and will only continue dominating as he has the last few seasons of college football.
