It is so nice to have open source software that doesn’t cost you a dime. Sure you could use inventor or master cam to mill out your parts. But now you don’t have to. You don’t have to spend all that money and have them have so much control over your process. Because free cad is open source you can literally do any changes to the code that you want. The path workbench that enables you to take your free cad parts and mill them on a milling machine is relatively new. I’m really looking forward to the open source community developing this for makers to be able to empower them to make anything they need without the handcuffs of the big boys.
