In this video, I show how to use Dell's iDRAC management interface to add a new RAID volume on a running VMware ESXi server. First we start by adding a single disk and setting up a new datastore. Then I add a second disk to the mix and migrate to a RAID 1. Finally, I add a third disk and migrate to a RAID 5, showing how to use the extra capacity in VMware after the volume is expanded.
Hardware used for this video include a Dell R6515 server with iDRAC Enterprise, and an H740p RAID card.
