Li'l Buds Theatre Company proudly presents
"Alice in Wonderland" Our original adaptation based on Lewis Carols' "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" Opening May 03, 2014
CHICAGO- Li'l Buds Theatre presents Alice in Wonderland This original adaptation for families is based on the Lewis Carol books "Alice's adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass " and was written by critically acclaimed actress Jenny Lamb most recently praised for her work as Sally Bowles in Cabaret at Light Opera Works. Li'l Buds' continues it's tradition of casting professional actors and children together to create a high quality theatrical experience that speaks to kid and adult audiences alike.
About the show
This adaptation was written by our company member, Jenny Lamb based on the books written by Lewis Carroll. It will be a one hour vaudeville trunk style interpretation of the show. The cast of 8 will play multiple characters thru out Alice's Journey. The overall theme for this production will be the lessons that Alice will take with her into her teen and adult life, signified by ribbons she collects from each character on her trip. We have a chance to journey into the world of this child's imagination, interacting with the audience and bringing them into our story. Things that appear small in life can be fantastical and larger than life in your imagination. In this version, Little Alice imagines herself a brave teenage warrior, who constantly changes size thru the dreamlike journey. This show will be performed in the sanctuary of the Unity Lutheran Church in Edgewater on Balmoral and Broadway. The actors will utilize the entire room and balcony to create an environment for our audience that will take them on an adventure they will hopefully always remember. The imagination is a place of endless possibilities and the lessons these nonsensical characters teach Alice on her journey will help her as she grows into a young woman. In the end, you find yourself questioning, Was her trip to Wonderland real or only a dream? YOU DECIDE!
