ATR’s Brian Pinelli with an update on the Alpine World Ski Championships, reporting from the windy resort town of Cortina, Italy. In the men's super-G, it was Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr racing to victory and earning his first world title.
In Beijing 2022, organizers unveiled the Olympic and Paralympic torches a few days ago. The Olympic torch named “Flying” is burning brightly because Beijing is the first city to host both summer and winter games. The flame ignited celebrations marking the one year countdown until the opening ceremony in February next year.
An exciting new feature for both the Olympic and Paralympic torches is the lock feature that will make it easier for runners to light the next torchbearer’s flame. The interlocking torches are meant to convey Beijing 2022’s vision for understanding and unity.
The torch made its debut at the National Aquatics Center last Thursday. Beijing 2022 is aiming to deliver warmth and light to the Winter Games.
So far, there’s no word on the torch relay, which is how the olympic flame will get around ahead of the games.
